A post-mortem examination held today following the death of 68 year old Richard Bowes has revealed he died from head injuries.

The pensioner - who lived alone in Haven Green - died in hospital on Thursday after intervening during violent disorder in Springbridge Road on Monday night.

A post-mortem examination took place today (Saturday 13th August) at Uxbridge mortuary and gave the cause of death as a head injury.

An incident room has opened at Sutton under DCI John McFarlane (HSCC).

DCI McFarlane said: "This was a brutal incident that resulted in the senseless killing of an innocent man.

''I still need the assistance of the community who may have witnessed the attack on Richard, to come forward and provide information or images they may have recorded on mobile devices.

''This information could be crucial in catching his killer."

On 11 August police issued a further CCTV image of the suspect, who we know was in the Ealing Broadway area from around 20.00hrs onwards, participating in violence and looting.

Police know he was in the company of a large group of others, and that he appeared to be known to a considerable number of youths and young men who were also in the area.

Anyone who can assist should call the incident room on 020 8721 4205; if you wish to remain anonymous, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
