Safer Neighbourhood Teams Run On Line Survey

Enabling teenagers to identify areas that make them feel unsafe or concerned

Young people of London are just a few clicks away from telling their local police team their concerns using the Met’s new Online Youth Survey.

The survey will go live on the 25th February on the Safer Neighbourhoods website and run until 20th March 2008.

Aimed at 11 to 18 year olds, the survey will identify areas on their school journey and in their neighbourhood that make them feel unsafe or concerned. The information is then passed to the local Safer Neighbourhoods team for that area who will work with the community and partners to address the issues and find a lasting solution.

Dedicated schools officers and Safer Neighbourhoods teams are working with schools to incorporate the survey into lesson plans. The survey can be completed anonymously in just a few minutes and can be found on www.met.police.uk/saferneighbourhoods

Chief Inspector Gareth Morgan said, “Recognising and putting right the concerns of young people across London is important to us. Local Safer Neighbourhoods teams are developing more opportunities to engage with young people to ensure their voice is heard and their views taken seriously by the police and local community. An online communication channel is the perfect method through which to reach young people and provide them with a quick a easy way of contacting us.”
